Formed in 1992 as a graffiti crew, Several Active Minds eschews "hiphop" costumes and slang of the day in favor of sincerity and heart. The original crew dispersed when one member moved to Thailand with his Muy Thai teacher, another moved to Canada, and yet another was shot dead in the streets. The founder was buried alive in the wilderness of North America. When he emerged from confinement, seven years later, he brought a new S.A.M. squad, a larcenous band of venomous mic crushers from the era of shop crashing and on-stage beat downs. A team supremely dedicated to the enrichment of hip hop and true seekers of knowledge. The Latest album from Several Active Minds, 'Constructicon Mathematics', is a joyous throwback to the days of innovation. "This album is dedicated to the creative minds behind the original Transformers, and the force of imagination it instilled in me", says group member Manifaces." "After we made the conscious decision to take just the rawness of earlier hip hop, without trying to bite a Pete Rock, or a Premier beat, I knew the only producer I could collaborate with was [Seattle fan-favorite] Specs One. The album is just crunchy hip hop," says S.A.M. producer/MC/Graffiti artist Dume 41. "Specs is the type of producer who never looks back AND gets doper with every new idea. I learned hip hop from him in the projects back in like '86. But he didn't teach me by telling me what to do, just by being an example. In that way, instead of just being a fan, I became an embodiment of hip hop. It stayed in me forever." Check out the artist's website: http://www.samsquad.com Track List: 1.
