Listen to their cuts, you may find you like it..." -Review Ordinary Joe "Music is our life, we love what we do and would never change our sound or style for anyone!" -Maticulous Maticulous consists of two musicians from Armstrong B.C. Our names are Mat Keller and Matt Wagner (21 yrs) hence the grammatical change to the word, Meticulous, which defines our character perfectly. Our Urban style of music can be described as quote, “very enjoyable ear candy!†and “energetic on stageâ€. However we would describe ourselves more along the lines of musicians striving for originality; determined to push the limits of the new urban music scene. We consider our music to be a more positive influence in today’s hip hop culture, because kids need roll models that are aware of life beyond traditional gangster rap clichés. We want people to be and act as themselves and not base their image on false impressions. We are all about looking at the big picture, taking it all in, and having fun! We are fun-lovin’, rappin’ country boys! Maticulous started in 2002 when we entered talent shows with original hip hop content and started winning. We knew we were on to something and used our experience with instruments to help the process along. The two of us have been playing music together for 7 years, and we’ve been recording/ producing for 2 years. We are big fans of conscious and positive hip hop and find it hard to take most thug and gangster rap seriously because it’s so negative and trendy. In our opinion, we would rather see a greater awareness in people and understanding of who they are as individuals. Today, we completely self-produce and compose all of our music and lyrics. We are also recording other local artists through our business, Broken Wreckords Studio. Our debut album, Life in a Flask, has sold over 1,000 copies locally since it’s release in July 2005! Our performance consists of high energy rapping, singing, and turntablism with the addition of our new DJ, DJ Phosphor (aka Justin Dixon Vernon, BC). Our edge is that we can sing in harmony, emcee, and entertain with real and raw behavior. We plan on expanding our live show with instrumentation once we find the right players. We derive our inspiration from current events, personal experiences and human relations, as well as the adventures we’ve had while traveling together. We’ve opened for big name acts such as Moka Only, Sweatshop Union, K-OS and constantly listen for the latest in original and unique music in all genres because we believe versatility to be an extremely important part of music creation and staying on top of today’s music scene. People say we sound like, “the Beastie Boys met K-OS and learned how to sing!!â€.
