In these times, rappers have become bogged down in a quagmire of wackery, selling the culture short in order to make the dollars offered by the mainstream. Being original is no longer important and cats have become content to be like the next man, repeating the same old tales of jewels, cars, and street life. Not only have the rhymes become devoid of substance, but the production has suffered as well. Bounce has taken over and beat makers seem reluctant to tap into the full spectrum of musical possibilities.

Like the prophets of the Old Testament, now comes an MC to remind his peers, and heads, what hip-hop truly is. Madgesdiq comes to lead the people away from the hyperactive, halting flow favored by the many and turn them back the right way with his distinctive monotone, effortlessly delivering ill poems.

Madgesdiq has laid in the cut, observing hip-hop's decline over the past few years. Putting the pen to his pad, he has created lyrical concepts that address hip-hop's ills. He also delivers tongue-lashings to sucka MCs with witty braggadocio rhymes, thus the alias Mr. Brag-Art. Madgesdiq manipulates any and all topics as he skillfully combines TV images, academic principles and life observations into entertaining songs.

Madgesdiq prefers to rock rhymes over music that expresses his varied tastes. Jumbo Da Garbageman and Rev. Sheinz from the Lifesavas, along with a new, young producer, Mr. Brawn, have provided Madgesdiq with a sonic backdrop that seduces heads to nod.

Mr. Brag-Art plans to shatter another popular trend with his debut album. Going against the trend of featuring guests on almost every song, Madgesdiq is going solo on his joint, with a little assistance from his Highbrow partner-in-rhyme, Mr. Bowlz. "It's easy to go out and get big names, people who are already established," the up-and-coming MC says, "but fuck that. I want people to recognize what I do first."

Once heads overcome the shock from being reminded what real hip-hop is, they will no doubt appreciate Madgesdiq's efforts. Dedicating himself to bringing integrity back to the art form, Madgesdiq is sure to snag the attention of those thirsty for good music. It is pleasant to hear an artist devoted to moving the crowd and not so concerned about cashing the big checks. However, that doesn't mean he's in it for free. It's just that money is not his first priority. "I wanna be the person that cures the mic aches and still gets the dough," Madgesdiq states with complete earnestness. "Better brace yourself for what cometh."
