Tradition style bluegrass music is what The Stoney Creek Band loves playing. They are located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains about 20 minutes from the famous Galax Fiddlers Convention. They play mostly for local events, charity events and private parties. They play at the local Bojangles restaurant in Mount Airy every Thursday night from 7 pm to 8:30 pm and would like to invite you to come by and enjoy if you’re in the area, its free (come early if you want a place to sit). They have played the famous Merry-Go-Round at the WPAQ Radio Station, Autumn Leaves Festival in Mount Airy, Andy Griffin Playhouse, Applewood Music Park, Surry Community College, just to mention a few. The band was born in 1993 and released their first album in 1998. They have release a new album in 2005 and it really sounds great. The members include Mike Willard he plays a fantastic lead and rhythm Guitar and also sings lead and harmony vocal parts with ease. Kenneth Kirkman plays any of the instruments of the band but his specialty is the Dobro he also sings lead and harmony vocals. Tommy Leftwich plays the upright Bass, sings lead and harmony vocals. David Bowman he takes care of the Mandolin section of the band and sings lead and harmony parts. Last Gary Payne, he formed the band in 1993 after they had been jamming together for a year or so.
