Tradition style bluegrass is what The Stoney Creek Band likes to play they are located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains about 20 minutes from the famous Galax Fiddlers Convention. They play mostly for local events, charity events and private parties. They have played the Merry Go Round at WPAQ Radio Station, The Andy Griffin Playhouse, Applewood Music Park, Surry Community College Farm Days, just to mention a few. The band was born in 1993 and released their first album in 1998. The members include Mike Willard he plays a fantastic lead and rhythm Guitar and also sings lead and any of the other of the harmony parts with ease. Then there is Kenneth Kirkman he can play any of the instruments of the band but his specialty is the Dobro he also sings harmony parts. Tommy Leftwich plays the upright Bass, sings lead and harmony vocals, other than that he is just a all round nut which keeps us laughing most of the time. Well they have another Tommy, he is Tommy Bowman he takes care of the Mandolin section of the band and sings harmony, and they certainly believe he knows more about music than all of the others combined. Last Gary Payne, he formed the band in 1993 after they had been jamming together for a year or so. Gary Payne plays the Banjo, but they want let him sing yet.
