Aged to perfection is just a cliché, but it rings true for this talented gospel group. As the offspring of the group The Spiritual Travelaires, which was formed by Lee Cloud in the early 1960's, these men are no strangers to the gospel music industry. Over the years the group has gone through many transitions with members having to balance family life and the rigorous demands of traveling. But the one thing that has remained constant is the message. A message they have shared together for the past 17 years. After the unfortunate passing of Lee Cloud in October 2003; the only original member left Jimmie Sutton joined with Derek Sutton, Danny Sutton, Derek Sutton Jr., Minister Howard Beamon, Eric Barnes, and Stanley Williams make up the Original Northernaires. Having a close knit family and growing up in the church; these gentlemen are driven to sing songs under the anointing of God that have true meaning. Whether on recording or live in concert, their songs have been known to touch the hearts of all. Due to the groups obvious talent their success has grown rapidly. They have shared the stage with such legends as The Sensational Nightingales, Dixie Hummingbirds, Shirley Caesar and current day gospel celebrities such as the Canton Spirituals, Lee Williams and the Spiritual QCs, and Keith "Wonder Boy" Johnson; and continue to tour the country with various elite gospel recording artists. With several albums and records to their credit, their latest two releases are by far their best. The 2001 release "I Surrender All" truly showcased the many abilities of this talented group of men. It encompassed upbeat songs such as "Pray on My Child" and "Lift the Savior Up" to the slower paced familiar hymnals like "I Surrender All" and "Footprints of Jesus." It also debuted a beautifully arranged accapella selection performed by the father and son trio of the group called the "Country Song". With a solid sound and unmatched style, the Original Northernaires are definitely here to leave their mark on the gospel industry and leave their message in the hearts and souls of all of God's children.
