Deon Unthank, from sogospelnews.com wrote the following about The Morris' Home Of Joy project: "This CD is pure country with solid, quality tracks and vocals...Their style of writing reminds me a lot of the Hinson's songs. In fact, their sound is probably closer to the ORIGINAL Hinsons than any other description than I can think of. As much attention should be paid to the quality of the song writing as the vocals. With the key word to describe this couples song writing as being diversification. Some of the songs I really liked are "Finish Line", a motivating song to keep you headed to the end of the race. "It's Not Goodbye" is a tear jerker that gives real hope for those who have lost loved ones. "He Romanced The Stone" tells of how not even a stone cold heart can resist the romance and wooing of the Spirit of God." The first release from the HOJ project was 'It's Not Goodbye", a song written by Van and Kathryn. Radio gave a tremendous response to the song. The Solid Gospel Network, which reaches 115 markets in the U.S., added the song to its rotation and it eventually took the #1 spot on the SGN chart on 9/15/04, as well as becoming the most requested song on the Network for 2004. Three additional releases to radio have followed, the latest being "Your Will", a tribute to George and Mary Mueller, also written by Van and Kathryn Morris. In addition to singing, Van and Kathryn are songwriters, writing all of the songs recorded by The Morris'. Their first national release to radio was in 1990, followed by five additional releases, three of which reached the national charts. One song to chart nationally was 'Tender Mercy'. In 1992, this became the song of the year at WJCR radio station in Upton, Kentucky. Van and Kathryn have also written charting songs for other gospel artists including Kevin Spencer and Friends ('Picture This'), and a #1 song for the former White River ('Wrong Spot Lot'). In 2004/2005 The Morris' have received positive reviews for their Home of Joy project . They were featured as the Special Artist Spotlight on Les Butler's nationally syndicated program 'The Old Country Church', as well as chosen as the 'On The Horizon Group' by Southern Gospel Forum.com. in March 2004. The Morris' were also interviewed for 'Closer Look' segments aired on the Solid Gospel Network. The Morris' have also made appearances on Jimmy Snow's Gospel Country televison program as well as 'TCT Alive' on the TCT network.
