Tvice is a Portland based quartet boasting an acoustic funk/rock/jazz sound. The group joined together in the early spring of 2003 and has been busy developing their new style ever since. While directing a youth worship workshop, Travis (guitarist/singer) met Jason (bass) and the two instantly gelled with similar musical taste and style. Together, students of music theory and avid fans of gospel, they began creating some musically challenging pieces. When asked to lead worship at "The Well," a thriving church plant in Portland's inner city, Danny Hailey sat behind the drums. There was an instant connection between the heavy-handed gospel play of "D" with the funk/rock of Travis and Fred Hammond-esque bass lines of Jason. Later, Steve Phelps sat in with Travis, Jason, and Daniel at the Portland Rose Festival. Steve brought a clean, jazz influenced funk and made the Tvice melodies speak a new and interesting language. Weekly, they jammed to uncover a distinct and satisfying expression of their love for God and music.

The sound of this group spans generations and musical leanings. While aware and always searching for a unique melody, rhythmically this group constantly pushes themselves. Incorporating off-time signatures into an eclectic repertoire of rock, funk, jazz, and ballad-like tunes, they possess an uncommon depth and versatility. One peculiar dynamic to Tvice is the role of the bass as more of a lead instrument. While responsible for bass lines and thick-groove, Jason also supplies melody on the bass. These moving lines are intentionally grabbing to the hearer's ear as they listen for what comes next.
Tvice has many influences. Topping the lists of favorite bands is that of Fred Hammond, Herbie Hancock, and Stevie Wonder. They have recently finished their debut CD Love & Glory; a six-song EP that showcases their dynamic style and musical flexibility.

As a band, Tvice is motivated and full of energy. Priorities have been set to play Love & Glory around the Northwest and start on a second recording. They have played: Portland TruthQuest youth and leadership conferences, RIOT for CBNW (George Fox University), Portland Rose Festival, Portland Gospel Fest, Mt. Hood Community College Concert Series, Edge, Cafe D'Vine, Winter Youth (Jantzen Beach) and various other venues.
