The all female group is comprised of the lovely Tamika Abuwi, Elise Barnett, Maureen Brown, Kadreana Mack, and Noreen Purnell. Like the Winans, The Clark Sisters, and Mary, Mary, True Vine has family roots. Maureen, Noreen, and Tamika are sisters, along with their cousin Elise. Home is where True Vine got their foundation. Coming up, the Jackson twins and Tasey Taylor-Burton (who was replaced by Kadreana in 2002) would sing together. When the idea of a singing group entered into their minds, it only made sense for it to be them. The three teamed up with the twins sister Tamika and their cousin Elise. One problem, the group had no name. Looking to their father for help, he flipped to St. John 15:1. It was there the name was revealed. True Vine, a name fitting this phenomenal gospel group, was suitably chosen. The five women are humble, steadfast, and exude the connection between the branch and the true vine. The five launched their ministry under this name. They put themselves on the map of Delaware’s gospel circuit. They performed on any stage that would allow them to share God’s goodness. True Vine’s ministry did not unnoticed. They have been blessed to have worked with gospel pioneers such as Vicki Winans, Bobby Jones, Dorothy Norwood and a host of others. In 1997, True Vine received the Gospel Golden Award for Best contemporary Gospel Artist. With all of the opportunities and awards, True Vine keeps a focus on what they are singing for, to minister. True Vine’s mission is "To minister to all people, in all places, at all times.†Between life experiences, testimonies, and their charge from God, True Vine covers all bases. Their songs have the ability to minister to any extreme. Their music relates to the under-appreciated wife/mother as well as the misunderstood daughter, the struggling backslider as well as the steadfast Christian. Whatever your story, God has ordained them to minister. Their ministry is not limited to song, but when necessary, True Vine will draw a real picture of where they come from. These women have no problem bearing lessons learned from their past or even a compelling personal testimony to allow God’s grace and mercy to be known to the saved and unsaved. True Vine’s passion for people to get to know Christ is admirable. For over 17 years, these young ladies have been ministering to the world. These dynamic women have been sent forth in holy boldness to encourage and restore their sin sick brothers and sisters; turning them from the darkness to the light. That is the focal point of their ministry. They have been lifting their voices bringing glory unto the Lord. Lead by the Holy Spirit, they have been walking firmly in their destiny. In a time where singers are too often enticed with wealth and promises, that is a noble stand. Not losing sight of their singing being a ministry, True Vine also realizes the importance of creating trend-setting music. With rich melodies, smooth grooves and uniquely intricate five part harmonies, these powerfully anointed voices are the vehicles that bless all that hear their music and a perfect example of God's miracle-working power of praise. In 2003, True Vine became the newest members of the End Tyme Production family. With longtime manager Lonnie Brown joining forces with Eric Greene, Sr., the ladies are looking forward to reaching new heights in the gospel arena. The spring of 2006, will mark the release of True Vine's long awaited debut CD.
