Retreat into the Nature of God... I have been in full time youth ministry for almost 3 years now, and really love it. It can be tough working at a church at times (as some of you may know), but It is an adventurous life. I have spent the past 12 years of my life immersed in Christ, and the subculture that sometimes accompanies. Over the past year or so I realized that I was getting burnt out...on some part of it all. Whether the cause was full time ministry, the merry-go-round of a culture we have created, my own hang-ups, or just a phase in my life / ministry, I began a retreat. This project, to me, is A Retreat Into the Nature of God. The worship songs are both what I want to say to God, and what I believe His heart is longing to hear from His people. The original songs basically just outline some of the experiences, feelings, or dreams I had during this "retreat"; which I find myself trying to make daily at this point. I like to write songs about conviction, redemption, and a passionately refined faith. Overall, I would like to think the songs I write are seasoned with experience rather than Christian catch phrases or a rhyming dictionary. It is my hope that the art I create is indeed good, and indeed blesses people. So if you take anything from reading this far - please know / remember / realize this... God is pouring out a jealous love on all His children ... He is bigger than us...our Christian culture...our churches...everything...
