Simplistic Complication, that’s exactly what the words from Travis Cleaves are.

Travis is a native of New Orleans, LA. This gifted and talented writer is poised to place himself atop the spoken word scene in Houston. With fresh lyrics and spiritual subject matter Travis is ready to take the ministry to another level.

Travis’ debut album “Speak These Things” is a must have spiritually lyrical journey through the life and times of a Born Again believer. This CD is all about ministry. With the powerful track “Continued Conversations”, Travis takes you through a discussion between man and God, where God ALWAYS gets the last word. Travis doesn’t just copy the cliché theme of Gospel music. In the much praised and loved “The Rapture will not be televised”, He calls on the church to wake-up and realize that time is wasting. In this tribute to pioneer Gil Scott Heron, Travis explodes with lines such as “ The Rapture will not be televised, glamorized, idolized, or conform to fit to societies norms, The Rapture will not be politically correct, devoid of the morally inept because you can’t compromise the divine…” Travis realizes the importance of conveying this message to masses. When asked what is the one thing he wants from this project, he responded, “I just want to get the word out and I hope that people receive it”.

This CD is sure to delight the musical tastes of even the most discriminate listener. With the production handled by the super talented Damon Eagleton, the music takes flight and brings to life the emotional aspect of every stanza of poetry. Every track is infused with a Neo-Eclectic vibe of Gospel, Funk and Jazz. With tracks like the soulful “Jesus Will (Carry You)” and the ultra hypnotic “On Bended Knee”, you are sure to keep this album in your CD player for a long time.

“Speak These Things” is sure to take Gospel music and the message to places un-reached and untapped by the spoken word poetry genre. We will continue to look forward to the next great collection of lyrical ministry from Travis Cleaves.
