At first glance, MikesChair doesn't appear to be an ordinary band. I mean really, what kind of name is that? Who names their band after a piece of furniture? Those are very common questions, and not even the band is able to answer them well enough to satiate most. But whoever said they claimed to be ordinary in the first place? MikesChair began as a college endeavor, but the longevity and commitment have made it different than anything these 6 guys have ever experienced. One year, eleven states, and a thousand EPs later, MikesChair is doing something truly unique. The band consists of Mike Grayson (vocals), Seth Jones (guitar), Sam Tinnesz (guitar), Mark Woodward (keys), Jon Haire (bass), and Jesse Hale (violin). The group is based in Nashville, TN, the epicenter of Christian music. Despite the odds, their music stands out as something special. They began turning heads in the fall of 2003 with their performance at the Gospel Music Showcase at Belmont University. Since then, they've performed at venues and churches all over the Southeast, and into the Midwest. MikesChair will be touring in support of their much anticipated freshman release. If you could pick two words to describe a MikesChair show, they would be "power" and "presence." What is most unusual though, is that neither word describes the band. The power and presence of the Lord is what MikesChair seeks every time they get on stage. The guys love music more than anything other than Jesus, and it shows in the way they write their songs. Powerful choruses and haunting melodies make every song familiar. Rock guitars under violin passages make every song unique.
