Like many artists, Joshua Gillis found the inspiration for his first CD in the midst of terrible pain. After losing his twin brother David in a tragic car accident in January 2005, Joshua and co-producer Will Horner took their musical partnership to a new level, in the grip of what Joshua calls “an urgent mission.†The result of their efforts is “Tribute,†a collection of songs inspired by David Matthew Gillis. “After David’s death, Will and I started thinking that one way to honor him would be to pursue and accomplish our dream,†Joshua said about the project. “Life’s too short to spend it doing something you don’t want to do. So we started the process in late summer of 2005, searching for a studio and gathering the songs we wanted to include on the CD.†Joshua and Will, who have been playing together for approximately eight months, put their heads together and amassed a collection of original and classic piano pieces for “Tribute.†“Will has good ears,†Joshua said, “Not only did he play percussion on the CD and help produce each song, he made many suggestions along the way that made the final product so much better. We make a good team.†Both young men currently plan to study recording in the future, but are open to any changes the release of the CD might bring. Though Joshua had only been playing piano for four years prior to recording the CD, he has participated in numerous piano and composition contests that helped shape his talent. As a result, “Tribute†is an eclectic CD â€" a blend of traditional hymns, original music and lyrics written by Joshua, and one song, “Do You Feel Him,†written by David himself. “Each song is in memory of and inspired by David,†Joshua said, “Because of that fact, we hope the music on the CD is able to bring comfort to other grieving hearts and glory to God.†Check out the artist's website: http://www.myspace.com/joshuamgillis Track List: 1.
