MINISTER JOSEPH L. MCKELTON, BIOGRAPHY There have been several recordings in which Minister McKelton has been privy to participate but it wasn't until the year 2002, that he walked into his season of an anointed and phenomenal solo debut. Born and raised in Detroit Michigan as the 8th child of 12 siblings, this soul stirring and melodious psalmist has been charged by God to share the gift He has bestowed upon him. Nurtured by a father who was a Pastor and a mother who is a strong warrior for Christ, Minister McKelton accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the early age of 6. He also recognized the call to the ministry at an early age but did not accept this divine appointment until November 1995. “Just as many ministers of the gospel, I ran from my calling. Not understanding what it truly meant to identify with those who God says, feet are beautiful that preach the gospel of peace, Rom 10:15. After years of observing my fathers ministry, beauty and preaching didn't appear to be too appetizing. But glory be to God, He loved me into the place of His divine will. He actually loved me into obedience to Him and the joy I now share is simply unspeakableâ€. He currently serves as an ordained associate minister at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Norcross, Ga. under the dynamic leadership of Dr. William L. Sheals. In addition, Minister McKelton is a full time instructor at the Hopewell Bible Institute. Minister McKelton gained outstanding and notable accolades while playing the role of elder son in the stage play, “The Prodigal Son†opposite the renowned actor John Patton of “The Color Purple†as well as singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic before Georgia's presiding Governor Roy Barnes as he received the “Drum Major for Justice Awardâ€. He has also rendered songs of preparation for the award winning soloist, Pastor Daryl Coley. Minister McKelton has ministered to thousands through song in several different venues. He has conducted several revivals and workshops. This gifted vocalist, writer, arranger and producer established his very own record label, JLM Records (Jesus Loves Me) and publishing company, Green Oil Publishing Inc. in Winter of 2001. His current musical presentation entitled Holy and Blessed is scheduled for release in September 2002.
