Minister Dwayne Coleman is a young MUSICIAN / SONG WRITER / VOCALIST / PRODUCER / PERFORMER who has integrated a variety of urban rhythms and contemporary ballads to create a fresh approach to Gospel Music with Ministry appeal. He is a highly gifted & talented keyboardist who excels in the midst of live performances. He has been called “a singer's singer†by many professionals yet he remains humble. He is an anointed man of God who sings with intensity, sincerity, and with Devine purpose. Dwayne is truly committed to excellence and has a deep burden to reach those who are poor, broken hearted, captives, blind and bruised. In August of 2001, by request of Vice President Dave McPhearson of the Sony/Epic Music Group, Dwayne was flown to the New York headquarters of Sony/Epic. It was truly an humbling experience and one of the highest points of achievement of his career. Mr. Dave McPhearson received him warmly and showed much Love. He shared his thoughts and feelings toward Dwayne's music and at one point even shared that he had been moved to tears by the song “Glory Alleluiaâ€. Dwayne has written & produced many songs for many other Gospel Artist. He wrote the music and contributed vocal arrangements to the song “R U A Letterâ€, which was a big hit for Chicago based Gospel Artist and friend Euclid Gray (formerly of the group Public Announcement). He has worked with such Major Artists as Carlos Moody, Pharis Evans Jr., Terry Garmon and others. Dwayne was singing before he took his first step. Growing up, he was influenced musically by such modern-day greats as Stevie Wonder, Fred Hammond, Commissioned, Kim Burrell, and Daryl Coley. He found his calling at a young age. “I have always been captivated by the Gospel,†he said. “It caught my attention at an early age, at probably 5 (years of age). I was even baptized by choice, when I was 6.†Currently serving as Associate Minister at Progressive Church of Jesus Christ, Dwayne spent most of 2001 recording the songs that would become “Breathe.†He was assisted in the studio by area Producers and friends Michael Joiner and Terry Garmon. Although Ground Level Records released “Breathe†in September 2002, Dwayne is already at work on songs that will serve as his second album. With nearly six songs already recorded, he said his second effort will be more of a hands-on production. “Because of the sound influences of different Producers, (“Breatheâ€) reflects a collaboration project,†Dwayne said. “The next album will convey more of what God has put into me rather than the ideas and creativities of other influences.
