"When imagining the influences for Lea's music, the obivous starting point would seem to fall within the genre of Folk. However, allow yourself to listen a bit longer and a bit closer and you will hear the soulful lyric frankness of blues accompanied by the chordal and melodic complexity of Jazz. Ultimately, the strongest influence for her music is Lea, which she projects with charm and ease when she takes the stage." - Garth Ross - the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage

"I think you have the most unique, beautiful voice and the most amazing gift for writing songs that transport me to another place and at the same time, speak directly to my soul. Thanks again for sharing your gift." - Jill Griffith - supportive audience member

According to her mother, Lea began singing at 2, started piano and flute lessons at 7. By the age of 13, she decided that playing guitar and performing her original songs was the path her life was meant to follow.

Her senior year of high school was spent studying music in Germany. Since her return, Lea has been making quite a splash.

She has been nominated for 5 WAMMIES (DC's answer to the Grammy), including Best Contemporary Folk Female Vocalist, Songwriter of the Year (2001). "creation" was also nominated for Best Debut Recording.

Lea's 2 year old daughter, Laela, is featured on the back cover of "creation". Isn't she lovely?

Lea is certainly one of metropolitan "DC's rising stars" . Keep your eye on her!
