She draws listeners in with a voice so rich and pure, it seems to resonate from the depths of her soul. As an engaging storyteller, Amy embraces the dark and light sides of life, often evoking tears and laughter from her audience. Her poetic songwriting style and delivery is inspired by some of her musical heroes, including Natalie Merchant, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. As a result, her songs reach fans from many musical backgrounds, from pop and folk to Americana and blues. She plays acoustic guitar using gutsy rhythms and finger picking, then switches to piano for sultry ballads and cabaret-esque tunes. Amy co-produced her first full length self-titled CD along with Dr. Fink, former keyboardist for Prince and the Revolution. After working on the record for over two years, Amy has finally completed a collection of eleven compelling songs. "I wanted to make a perfectly imperfect record, something that sounded raw and un-polished. I also wanted this to be my Tapestry record, with classic songwriting that would stand the test of time." Four of the songs were chosen from her debut EP, Short Story, and seven others were picked from over 60 songs written from 1993-1999. As a visionary artist, Amy is creating her own path rather than following someone else's lead. After performing under the pseudonym Amy Holland for seven years, she recently changed her name to Amy Angeline. The motivation behind the change was discovering there was another singer named am Holland married to Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers. Consequently, she decided to name herself after one of her literary heroes, Maya Angelou. Her self-titled debut is also being released on her own label, Yemana Records. Amy currently performs solo and with her band at some of the Twin Cities most noteworthy venues. She's also performed regionally and nationally, gracing stages such as Nashville's Broke Spoke Songwriter's Cafe. In January 2000, Amy was one of 1,500 applicants selected to perform at the Philadelphia Music Conference, one of the largest music conferences in the country. Her limited edition EP Short Story sold out shortly after it's release, and received ariplay on local, national and college radio stations, charting in the top 15 on KJNB in Collegeville, Minnesota. With over 100 songs in her current repertoire, and an intoxicating drive, Amy is a career artist who sees herself uplifitng, inspiring, empowering and moving audiences for years to come.
