Allison Sattinger began her musical odyssey listening to jazz records in her father's study. Humbled and madly in love with sound she studied piano and voice through high school and college. Upon graduating with a degree in Musical Theatre, Allison launched her acting career in several regional theatre productions before she realized that to SING was her true calling. Her voice reached Q-Tip's ears and the hip-hop luminary encouraged her to write her own words and music. Allison proceeded to write herself across the country to California where her newly penned songs were heard by Brian Jordan, guitarist for "Karl Denson's Tiny Universe" and frontman for "Brian Jordan Band". Believing in Allison's music as much as she always had, Brian contributed his talent and resources to help create her first EP, the self-titled "Allison Sattinger". After she returns from touring the western United States, Allison will be heard playing regularly at Anastasia's in Santa Monica. To listen to her music is to believe in the redemptive power of melody and harmony -- the juxtaposition of sweet and bitter on a universal canvas.

REVIEWS and QUOTES:

"At first glance at photos of Sattinger one might be under the impression that one is likely to be heading towards another nauseous waif-girl folk experience. And, at first glance at the album sleeve, when the album duly arrived, one might be left be an impression of an over-confident or self-indulgent release.

Unlike many self-released (and self-titled) CD's, this 7 track avoids self-indulgence and drabness. There's a conviction and confidence to these songs that comes with self-confidence in ones own talent and ability, the confidence itself blossoming into a polished debut, with an early musical maturity that will almost certainly grow.

Although Sattinger aspires to reach towards the serious end of the market, there's a delightful eccentricity to this eponymous debut mini album, filled with edgy idiom, performed somehwere along the lines of Eva Cassidy meets gospel-singer-turned-rock-chick. Outstanding track: 'Pair of Aces'

Er, not sure which category this one falls into - can someone remind me why I'm here, please?"
