"CELEBRATES FIFTY YEARS IN MUSIC" Members of this outstanding musical group began theiir musical careers in a small farming community in south Arkansas as members of their first band called the "Chitlin Switch Road Runners" in the late 40's and early 50's.Having their own radio show on local "KDMS" for four and a half years.This young group was booked on the"Louisana Hayride Road Show" with numerous "Country/Bluegrass and Rock -A-Billy"legends.Their talents were inspired by their father's and grandfather's who had their own band called the "Champagnolle String Band" in the 20's and 30's.A great musical heritage was passed from generation to generation for over one-hundred years. Evolving into "Bluegrass Kun-Tree" winning the biggest band contest west of the Mississippi at the "Salt Creek Park Festival in Hugo,Okla.Winning over twenty-seven over bands that year was the first time passed winners could enter. First prize was a trophy and an album recorded live at the festival ,pressed out in 72 hrs. for sale. The album was called the "1978 Salt Creek Park Winners".The group's next two albums "Lonesome River" and "I Just Think I'll Go Away" sold worldwide.This lead to the group being booked on the original "Louisana Hayride" in Shervport,La.,The"Jack Bowles" (Show Bud Show" on "WSM",the "Martha White Radio Show" with the legendary "Grant Turner".The group signed with the "Smilely Wilson Talent Agency" in Tenn. and recorded their forth album "Stretching Out" on the "Ridge Runner "record label.Due to the sudden death of their lead singer "Joe Wilson Sr." there was a great void.However, Joe's son "Joe Wilson Jr." "A great singer in his own right" was able to step in and fill that void.The group was received numerous honors and awards as well as being mentioned in the history "Country Music USA vol.#3 by Dr.Bill C. Malone a formost authority in country music history. The group has evolved once again,changing their name to"Union Kun-Tree" in keeping with their southern roots and their Arkansas History.The group's first single "Daddy's Train" bby "Bird & Davis" of "Union Kun-Tree" was used in a movie made for television in Spain.The group's second single "Legend of Fayetteville" received recognition alllong with the group iiin a Proclamation from Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee,the group,the song,and the songwriters received a Citation from the Arkansas Legistlature,the group and the song received "Special Congressional "recognition from the "United States Congress and Senate"the group was nominated for the "National Heritage Fellowship Award" and the "Presidential Medal of Freedom Award". This is the group first all gospel album with a feeling of OLE TME BLUEGRASS with the feeling of the AP CARTER and LOUVIN BROTHERS STYLE of music.All arrangements are true "UNION KUN-TREE !!
