Greg, Joe, Derek and Nate have been sharing their faith through music since 1999. Greg, Heather, Joe and Nate are Central Michigan University graduates. Derek is currently a student at C.M.U. Greg and Nate met at Campus Ministries United worship services in 1999 and initiated a friendship, which lead to the beginning of without excuse. Greg and Nate started to play some songs Greg wrote and realized they had some potential. They decided to use their talent and combined them to share their faith. Derek was a transfer student from U of M. Nate also met Derek at a C.M.U. Worship service. When Derek moved to Mt. Pleasant near Greg and Nate, they asked him his interest in joining a band. Derek said yes. Derek and Joe played in a group called Red Letter Edition in high school. Nate and Joe played in a few bands together in college, also associated with C.M.U. Nate asked Joe if he was interested in playing bass for the band. He was and this formed the core band of without excuse. The band decided to bring in a female voice.
