This collection of topical songs by Sharleen Leahey is a passionate and urgent message challenging us to question our leaders and ourselves on the issue of war and the imperative of making peace. Every song on "So Frail" is a bridge from silent outrage and despair to heightened awareness and resistance. Sharleen was strongly influenced by the great topical songwriters of the 1960s including Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Sharleen has been performing topical folk music for the past 25 years and from 1993-1999 was the publisher and editor of Songs for Peace magazine. Each and every track on the CD echoes a growing cry for peace rising from the communal activism of people in every corner of the Earth ... a cry which when loud enough, will make it imperative for governments to listen. "So Frail" is dedicated to Sharleen's daughter Sonja (who plays bass on two of the songs). As Sharleen sings, "The final war must be counted for peace is each child's due!"
