"Stark, oft-times sexy, confrontationally passive/aggressive and jagged" These are some of the words used to describe the long awaited second release, "Something Happened", from Austin artist, Seela. Honey-soaked vocals and wallpaper peeling guitars along with a simple, but sophisticated production touch make this record a fine example of pop music at it's best. The album starts off with the sharp edged clang of "Angel 2", which features Craig Ross on guitar. Before you know it, you're bopping along to a Brannen Temple drum loop holding the bottom down for the multi-layered madness of "Peace of Mind". From the haunting, confessional tone of "Give Up" to the ready-for-modern-rock radio "If I'm Wrong", Something Happened is as pretty as it is catchy.
