*LOTUS 33 is a mystical experiment of word and sound. Over the last three years, this NYC band has created some extraordinary music and energy. With inspirational and bold arrangements, these songs exhibit the vitality, versatility and talent of this group. Each member of LOTUS 33 has a tremendous musical history and they have come together through their strong and lasting love of playing music. This band is about movement, spirit and pure Rock-n-Roll.*

*SONG OF THE CYCLONE*
This album is intense and gorgeous. Love discovered and love lost, storms raging... the search for freedom and the real revolution... finding the place of peace and strength while overwhelmed with a tornado of chaos... beautiful and classic ballads... amazon woman huge vocals... Liberating power to the people anthems... It rocks on & on* Tracks #6-11 are extended jams ranging from 7 to 12 minutes long and include Zeppelinesque introductions and Hendrix style wailing guitar & drum solos. Impossible to really experience here through the two minute sound clip limit. The CD also comes with a three page color fold out cover of photos (baby pix of the band members) and B/W inside with all of the lyrics. Tracks #8 & 11 feature Naren Budhakar on tabla drums and #5, 8 & 11, Henry Gutierrez plays piano & organ. There is a golden lotus mandala on the CD itself and it was produced by Mollie King, independent and determined.*

*MOLLIE KING* - vocalist, guitarist, songwriter... ran away from Lookout Mountain, Georgia at eighteen to join the Lower East Side music scene of NYC in 1990. She was the singer and lyricist for many different bands including the jazz/hip-hop of Kingstone and the psycho/blues of Elliot Sharp's Terraplane. After four years in NYC she left for an amazing gypsy tour of Europe, performed in eight countries and had a blast. She made her first solo record in Hamburg, sang a duet with Rev. Al Green at the Royal Festival Hall in London, performed on live radio in Prague and went on tour with a British circus punk band called the Thunderdogs. Back in the States, she continued to travel all across America. She spent extended time playing in Austin, Seattle, Hawaii and Los Angeles. Mollie returned to NYC in 1998 to create LOTUS 33. Mollie has performed at Native American and Tibetan Buddhist benefit concerts. She was transformed into a cartoon for MTV's "Project Incognito," bellydanced in Ben Harper's video "Faded" and was the star of a documentary film about NYC women in rock called "Fireflies." LOTUS 33 released a four song CD demo in 1999 called "Seed" and a five song Mollie King solo/acoustic CD in 2000. "Song of the Cyclone" is their first full length album.

"This cat plays a stratocaster behind his head, with his teeth and even with a tamborine...played his first show at age four, born to rock. When I met him, I was selling jewelry in the parking lot of one of his huge Texas concerts. He is a bright and blazing starchild"*MK

*BRETT BASS* - bass...grew up in Lubbock, Texas and worked with many local bands. Brett met Henry in 1995. He was fifteen years old when his group Soul Kitten opened for Gingbreadmen. He moved to NYC to study at the Bass Collective. Brett has quickly become a sought after session bassist for many NYC groups due to his special skills at both the upright and the electric bass. He reunited with Henry at a jam session and shortly after joined LOTUS 33 in December of 1999*

"I have never seen Brett anywhere without his bass...it's an extension of his spirit. Believe it or not "Bass" really is his last name"*MK

He played in several groups including Electro Fetus, Marmalade, Random Arts Festival and Spitfire America.
