Most songwriters have to wait until they're dead to have a tribute concert in their honor; but Emily Kaitz got to experience one of these events while she was still alive (although some people there who didn't know her thought she might be dead). The Emilyfest, as it was called, took place in 1994 in Austin, Texas at La Zona Rosa and featured numerous local and out of town musicians all performing songs which Emily had written. Due to Emily's relative obscurity at the venue and with the bartenders there (she usually played smaller folk clubs) she was forced to buy her own drinks that night, allowing her the rare privilege of being incognito at her own celebration. The entire concert was recorded, and this CD features 17 songs by 13 different artists from that recording. Besides the more well known Trout Fishing in America, Austin Lounge Lizards, Therapy Sisters, and Christine Albert (currently of Albert & Gage), performers included The Funn Brothers (from Memphis), Dick Price, Brian Cutean, Gail Lewis, Kris Barnes, Mike Maddux, The Cow Patties, and others.
