The Canadian jam band scene has a new member in Singer/Songwriter Ty West. Born in Ontario, Canada (now living in Vancouver, BC), Ty has "hit the road", performing in coffeehouses, pubs, and various live music venues across the country. His unique singing style, accompanied by his acoustic guitar renderings, impresses his growing fan-base. Citing the works of Phish, The Grateful Dead, Nick Drake, Neil Young, and MMW as his influences, West has incorporated these artists' defining characteristics into his style, inspiring his own original sound. Ty has adopted the "jam band" format and allows taping of his shows, including sound-board feeds (where available). His performances are never prepared with setlists, making every experience unique, and un-assuming. Improvisation is what makes Ty "tick", and you are sure to witness this when he takes the stage. Live shows have included covers of Bob Marley, Phish, and Dave Matthews. Taping legend Alex Coluzzi has agreed to transfer and archive each show. Shows are available for download on www.archive.org. 2005 saw the release of Ty's debut album "Organic", which features many "staples" of his live shows including "Petals on the Water", "Rambles" and instrumental "Varnish". "Organic", which features 12 songs written over the last 3 years, was recorded in Toronto during the summer of 2004. Whether Ty is performing as a solo artist, or with fellow musicians, the audience is guaranteed to witness the passion he has for his art.
