The members of Two Of Us, Rich Hodgkins and Ken Rieske, came together originally in 1977, performing for five years in the highly successful Connecticut area folk-rock trio Sundance. After that they went their separate ways to perform in such popular acts as The Wanderers and Autumn & West. Rich comes from a somewhat folk music background, whereas Ken's roots are more in rock, soul and blues. That therefore gives them a unique sound. During their individual careers, they have played for over thirty years in local clubs and cafes. They have opened for national acts including Tom Rush, Brewer and Shipley, Jonathan Edwards and Howlin' Wolf. All of the songs in this effort are written by Rich or Ken, and Ken has won several awards for some of the songs included here. Of their CD, critic Fran Fried of the New Haven Register writes, "Their self-titled debut album is a collection of pleasantly played, richly sung songs that you'd expect from two grown men who've drawn from a lifetime of experiences." Most of the tracks are recorded with an acoustic feel, although a few are performed with a "full band" electric arrangement. All instruments and drum programming are by Rich and Ken. The Two Of Us CD will move you through a variety of styles. It goes from the acoustic, upbeat "Good Enough For Me", to the poignant "Wish I'd Had The Chance To Say Goodbye", and then even from the blues with "Why Are You Teasin' Me?" to the rock groove of "At The Sound Of Daybreak".
