Frank Ian has a songwriting ability that sheds all pretenses, and a style that hovers comfortably between Folk, Roots, Alt. Country, and Pop. This is a collection of songs of hope, perseverance, and edgy playfulness. Ultimately though, it's Ian's way with a melody that warrants continued listenings. On his new CD "The Blue Rider", Frank delivers a contemporary folk CD he describes as lessons learned through the period of four seasons. It began as a three song trilogy about an extremely trying Summer. The songs and ideas kept coming until the "Blue Rider " became a full CD. Frank Ian has settled in Cleveland, Ohio, the place he was born, after spending time in such places as Kansas and Oklahoma. Many nights of Frank's youth were spent soaking up the late 1960's folk music scene in Cleveland and New York State. His main influences at that time were such luminaries as Eric Anderson, Bob Dylan and Tim Hardin. While working as a music teacher and performing non-stop, he released recordings in the 1970's and 80's. He spent the 90's raising a family and quietly writing songs. This CD marks Frank's return to recording and performing after an 18 year hiatus. He retains his beguiling singing and playing skills along with his edgy stage presence.
