Or is that nightmares? The beautiful “Charcoal Morning" is a deep-voiced elegy that’s just stunning. She’s a poet which this tracks lyrics attest to. It’s a little like the Doors, mystical and atmospheric. “All the Cherries†is absolutely lovely if scary. Engel’s singing is husky and moving. “All the cherries bleed for you†...she sings. The song’s a bit jazzy in a nice way. “Absinthe Drinking Man†closes the ep. It’s a stunning song with a bit of a Patti Smith feel to it. Engel’s talent is real and she’s only just begun.
