City Folk toured the country for many years before they decided to each go their own ways. Along the way they recorded several albums. Shadows on the Wall was their first to be made into a CD. This album was recorded in the famed Plant Studios in Sausalito, California. This is the same place where Fleetwood Mac recorded Rumors and Stevie Wonder recorded Songs in the Key of Life, among many other life changing recordings.

This CD is unique in the way that it is recorded. City Folk's manager at the time simply wanted the trio to record a catalog of all of the songs the trio had worked up. So the group sat in the studio for a few days with two microphones set up in a stereo pattern in front of them and began to play through the repetoire.

There are no overdubs or editing on this recording. It is simply the guys playing the music as if they were in the living room. After listening to it and realizing what an interestingly clean and honest sound it had, they decided to release some of the tunes as an album. So, what began as a process for just putting down the group's material, ended up becoming this great recording. Enjoy!
