Arriving from the dusty backroads of alternative country, Cindy Lou Banks has traveled the musical by-ways, stopping to listen along the journey, eventually arriving at a sound uniquely her own. Playing throughout the Northwest and opening for dozens of national acts, Cindy Lou Banks gained local and regional recognition as the lead singer and songwriting force behind her former band, No Way Home. The band was awarded the Portland Music Association's Crystal Award for Outstanding Country Act two years running and was probably the only band in history to play the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Satyricon AND the Pendelton Round Up, a tribute to their universal appeal. No Way Home is often credited with starting the momentum behind Portland's "alternative" country scene by pioneering a following in downtown rock clubs as well as country bars. Drawing on many elements while remaining firmly rooted in the country music tradition. Their CD, Gone, was critically acclaimed and was picked up by alternative label Tim/Kerr Records. Choosing to leave behind her popular No Way Home and mainstream country bars, Cindy chose to focus on her writing and the recording of her new CD, Charmed Life. Released August 2003, the new album was produced by gifted Nashville songwriter, performer and producer Gary Ogan (Leon Russell, Tom Grant, Craig Carothers). Gary understands the complexities and delicacies of Cindy's music and, together, they are captured the hard-edged sensitivity that has come to be her trademark. Her music reveals a vulnerable side, reflecting on unfulfilled dreams, loneliness and love gone bad. Rather than sadness though, we find hope in her confessions, the realization that we have all been there. Appearing on the album are such Portland luminaries as: Barry Crevans, Steven James Wright, Ron George, Mel Kubik, Donny Wright, Mary Curtis, Jeff Leonard, Ron Stephens, Mitch Imori, Bob Stark, Benjy Werthherimer, Dave Carter, Eddie (Skip) Parente, Craig Snazelle, Mick Doherty and David Eby. Cindy has performed at the The Bluebird Café in Nashville, The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Bumbershoot/Seattle, NXNW Music Festival, The Hult Center, The Roseland Theater, The Portland Rose Festival, WOW Hall, and performed with Leo Kottke, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Jeff Walker, Clint Black, John Anderson as well as many others. "This [Charmed Life] is a great album!" - Jim Lauderdale, Grammy award winning singer/songwriter "...Banks has a full, sweet voice that compliments her songwriting savvy." - The Oregonian "Her lyrics are naked tales of pure emotion. On stage the guys tend to take a backseat to Cindy, whose voice can move from sweet melody to passionate wailing without a hitch." - The Rocket Check out the artist's website: http://www.cindyloubanks.com Track List: 1.
