"[Mitchell's] original music is richly melodic and truly memorable" --Darrin Crow, Director, Usher's Ferry Folk Festival

Track 8, "Noodle Soup," has been nominated for best solo guitar instrumental in the 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards.

Regarding the songs on his second CD, Mitchell says, "I don't know whether I'm maturing as a songwriter or just getting stranger. In either case, I think the new CD has a greater range of musical styles than the first one, and it has more variety in the backing instrumentation"(thanks to backing musicians Dale Beeks, Kimberli, Pete Raine, Mircea Tomus, and Ron Wallace).

The CD opens with a tribute to Elizabeth Cotton, emulating her style with just a single guitar and a single vocal track, and ends with a love song of sorts, again with just a single guitar and a single vocal track. In between, the song range in style from something approaching pure country to a sort of bluesy-reggae mix to an occasional song of truly indeterminate genre. The backing instruments include
mandolin, fiddle, dobro, bass, harmonica, bongos, conga cajon, and a second guitar on "All the Same."
