"Singer, songwriter Pamela Jay has an excellent voice-and she knows how to use it. She sings about life, the earth, and the joys of simple living without a note of sentimentality or a hint of obligation. What is it like to soar with a red-tailed hawk, or run along the "Sassypaths? Or play with two old barn cats or dance "The Bumble Rumble"?

Pamela's voice is glorious and full of style. Her lyrics are at the same time whimsical, insightful and absolutely honest. Her perspective is appreciative, and her spirit generous. It is no wonder that Pamela Jay's musicians play as though they truly love her.

You may find these songs swirling in your head. Do whatever you can to keep them in your heart."

Executive Director, Parents' Choice

Pamela Jay is the founder of Wheatfields, a not-for-profit nature center on her historic farm near Columbus, Indiana. Here Pamela spends her days leading hands-on programs for youth and adults focused on nature appreciation, simple living and community service.

Pamela Jay found her first heart-shaped rock in 1992 along the bank of the Flat Rock River near her farm. She was healing from a chronic illness at the time and walks on the farm were part of her therapy. On days she felt too weak to continue, the thought of finding another rock kept her walking.

She now teaches the game to others that hike with her in hopes of helping them see the value of slowing down their minds, spending time in nature and noticing the world arond them. These experiences have inspired the collection of songs, Heart-Shaped Rocks, which were nearly destroyed when her home was gutted by a fire in 1997.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Heart-Shaped Rocks helps support Wheatfields' youth programs.
