SAN FRANCISCO-- Clubhouse Records has announced the release of TWO WORLDS, the second album by singer songwriter Tor Olson. A veteran of the San Francisco music explosion of the sixties, Olson was the founding member and leader of "The Only Alternative and His Other Possibilities", a popular Marin County band that initially featured Mimi Farina and often appeared as concert mates with Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & the Holding Co. and Country Joe And the Fish.
Olson's band enjoyed an excellent run on the local San Francisco night club scene, performing at such seminal venues as the Matrix, the hungry i, the Rock Garden, Fillmore West and the Ark. Olson and The Only Alternative built a large cult following, which eventually lead to a prestigious recording contract with Warner Brothers Records. Legendary San Francisco Chronicle music critic John Wasserman and the San Francisco Examiner's respected jazz and pop music writer Philip Elwood consistently gave the group rave reviews in their columns.
TWO WORLDS is comprised of songs written and arranged by Tor Olson. The album reflects a maturity and depth of expression that was only implied in Olson's recordings from that turbulent era. Produced by Tor Olson, Miles Olson and Rena Radich TWO WORLDS is poetic expression of our inner and outer realities. This new release uses lush background vocals and blended instrumentation to paint rich, musical pictures in a style similar to his first release (PICTURE). Mixed by Alan Krauss (RCA) and Jane Clark Uralli (Motown), TWO WORLDS reflects a maturity and depth of expression that was only implied in Olson's recordings from that turbulent era. TWO WORLDS also features the creative style of stand-up bass virtuoso Nils Molin (Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks) guitarist Keith Allen (Steve Miller) master harmonica man Bruce Kurnow (Mason Proffit) drummer Janelle Burdell (Disney's Tour-Beauty and the Beast) and Kester Smith (Taj Mahal).
