Singer/songwriter JJ Heller has a way of expressing emotion with the kind of vulnerability that disarms listeners and draws them in. Her artfully crafted lyrics create a delicate balance between authenticity and relevance. This is why thousands of listeners are falling in love with the music of JJ Heller. JJ studied music at San Jose Christian College, in the San Francisco Bay Area, and began writing and performing her songs in local coffeehouses. After graduating in the spring of 2002, she married guitarist Dave Heller. The newlyweds moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they reside. JJ and Dave have a habit of making themselves at home wherever they go. Whether taking the stage or singing in a living room, they connect with their audiences through playful banter, honest lyrics and their genuine personalities. During her first year and a half as a full-time performing artist, JJ performed over 170 times. Most notably, she opened for Jars of Clay, Warren Barfield, PFR (on two separate occasions), and performed at Spirit West Coast in Del Mar, CA. She was also awarded first place in the acoustic category of the Arizona Christian Music Showcase. Her debut studio album, “Songs That I Know,†has been well received by audiences of all ages and backgrounds. JJ's latest independent project, “Collection of Thoughts *EP,†reveals a grittier side of the singer songwriter and has also experienced a warm reception by her fans. JJ’s acoustic folk-pop vocal style has been compared to artists such as Natalie Merchant and Alanis Morissette. Her music resonates with conviction and reaches listeners with its refreshingly simple quality. “We don’t want to just entertain people,†JJ says. “We also want to inspire them and challenge them to ask the important questions in life.†"JJ Heller is one of those few independent artists that cause you to wonder why they're not impacting the mainstream market. With underground talent this good -- better than a lot of similar, currently wider-known artists -- it's a shame more don't know about her. If you're a fan of acoustic-driven music, do yourself a favor and check out JJ Heller..."
