jess mcavoy
"If ever there was someone born to take the stage, it's Jess McAvoy." Xpress
For those not yet exposed to the acoustic stylings of McAvoy, Jess originated from the Western Australian incubator, where developing exceptional musicians seems to be in the water. Exports from the region include John Butler, The Waifs, and Little Birdy.

Jess is in suitable company, as she stands alongside & as one of the most superb independent artists of our time.

Playing in pubs in Australia since she was 16, Jess relocated to Melbourne in '99. Since then, Jess has played a heap of well received gigs, toured with Ani Di Franco & the Waifs and released two further E.Ps - 2001's "Four Short Stories" which garnered Triple J and Rage airplay, and her limited numbered edition CD "Light Wait" in late 2002.
"Jess McAvoy is vibrant, energetic and accomplished. Her songwriting and performance is filled with passion" Josh Cunningham, the Waifs.

Other supports include New Zealand's Brooke Fraser, Ember Swift, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding set, Pete Murray and Kate Ceberano.

In 2004 Jess released "En Masse", to glowing reviews across Australia, and strong support from national and local radio stations.

"****. 4 stars. "McAvoy has a polished collection of self-penned works, whose acoustic groove will silence even the loudest bar fly into submission"
Anna Krien, The Age

"A class above the rest...Jess McAvoy is an exciting find"
The Sydney Morning Herald.

Triple J airplay and more recently Nova rotation (vocalist; Microphonic's "Better than this") has consolidated her ever growing legion of devotees. Beautiful, self-deprecating and unfairly talented, few have been able to escape her allure as a performer.

Now, just returned from a slew of shows in Los Angeles and New York, which included shows at the Bitter End, CBGB's, Arlene's Grocery and the Knitting Factory, Jess is in pre production for her highly anticipated follow up album, to be recorded with Aria Award winner Marty Brown.
"Her stage presence has the commanding strength of a titanium rod...you dare not ignore her" Peter Donald, Beat.

"McAvoy always seems to draw something from deep within herself, giving each song its emotive dues in a way you find difficult to believe"
Sabian Wilde, X Press

To this day, Jess is an independent self managed artist.
