"Take a pinch of NICK DRAKE, Add a dollop of JOHNNY CASH, Fold in a dash of RYAN ADAMS, Beat to a coarse batter with JJ CALE'S guitar... and you have cooked up a fine batch of JESSE WOLFE" -Havensfoot Records "(Jesse's) album came on during a dinner party, and I had to stop the conversation to listen and find out who it was...wow...great songs" - T. Bone Burnett "Beautiful songs of love and longing, and the distance between what one wants and what one has lost along the journey...a voice leathered and well traveled, with a timber that hearkens back to singers of another era..." -WPRK "...anyone who values and enjoys beautiful lyrics and honest no frills instrumentation, will become and instant fan of Jesse Wolfe" - Troubadour YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW?... Born in May of the summer of love, Jesse is an inquisitive child, who's favorite pastime is removing every pot, pan and bowl from the kitchen cabinets and banging on them with wooden spoons until the neighbors call to complain. First band: drummer for THE UNDERGROUND- Playing mostly Elvis Costello, Jam, Talking Heads and Tom Petty covers, Jesse develops a unique drum sound, and is soon sitting in with other local bands, including The Shades of Gray and with Matt Delaney's FORGOTTEN SPACE, a Grateful Dead cover band with a devoted following (check out Matt Delaney's new album on cdbaby!). 1990- The Underground runs it's course and eventually disbands, but Jesse and lead singer Joel Johnson immediately form a new ensemble, LITTLE GIANTS, to focus on their original compositions. Jesse has moved up to guitar and has added harmonica to his repertoire. 1991- New York City's Lower East Side- Renamed RADIO FLYERS, the band is soon a regular on the downtown music scene, playing with artists like The Smithereens, Keb 'Mo, and the late Jeff Buckley. 1993- Jesse plays his first solo gig at the famed Bitter End. Solo gigs at clubs like The Bottom Line, The Knitting Factory, CBGB's, Gallery 13 and Cafe Sine soon follow. 1997- Wolfe has moved to Los Angeles, where he cuts his first solo album entitled "Salutations from the Woolton Village Fete"- A collection of lyrically driven pop/rock tunes. Two songs receive critical attention and local radio play, and one of them, "One More Night," is selected for NYC's "St. Marks" compilation album. 2002- After a long run of solo gigs in Los Angeles and New York, Wolfe is approached to record a second album. Deciding to design the recording sessions around simple, live, in-studio performances of Wolfe and his guitar, a dozen tunes are settled on, and Wolfe proceeds to record what he calls "The Bitter Suite Sessions". A year later, Wolfe emerges from the studio with the tracks that make up "Jesse Wolfe ... Songs From The Bitter Suite". It has been met with accolades wherever it has been heard and has been making a steady move throughout the Independent American Roots markets. Wolfe is currently in his Florida studio, recording a new album of original compositions.
