Two years ago, Bewley got brave and began venturing out into the coffee houses of Los Angeles. Before that, he wrote and performed mostly for the kitchen walls of his apartments -- first in New York City, later in Hollywood. The response led him to do some recording, and Beat EP is the end result. At heart a storyteller, the subject matter here ranges from Jack Kerouac to a strange group of regulars at one of the few straight bars in the West Village of New York City where he used to wait tables.
