It's A What? is the second self-released CD of acoustic guitar, songs and singing from the guitar-monkey known as 5-Track 5 rarely performs or records on an acoustic guitar, preferring a psychedelic electric tone. At the request of his friends he produced this selection of recordings, captured alive in the studio by Lindsay Vari, in the spring of 2005 Known for the relaxed intensity of his performances as well as for his guitar magic, 5 usually appears with the band Glass Goblins. Glass Goblins performs electric versions of several of the tunes from It's A What? including: 'Godless Weather,' 'Intra-Venus (Tar)' and 'Keira' Most of the songs on It's A What? are 5's own compositions. Track 3, 'Intra-Venus,' is based on a poem (Tar) by Chrstian Peet. Track 5, 'Static,' is a composition by Seattle's off-the-hook electric progprov duo Neon Brown. (Dig 'em at www.neonbrown.com) 5 moved to Seattle (via Bellingham) from Vermont, where he worked with Marc Cantlin in the band called Bruce. Bruce continues to play and record on rare & special occassions.
