Ben grew up playing the piano and came to profoundly appreciate the versatility and expression of this beautiful instrument. As his parents helped foster his love of the piano, Ben also constantly listened to the early New Age music of David Lanz, David Arkenstone, Yanni, Tingstad and Rumbel, Michael Gettel, and Enya. These early influences have continued to shape Ben's appreciation of peaceful music meant to be both contemplative and stirring. He hopes that his music will have the same effect. Ben's greatest musical desire is to convey the deep feelings that accompany the cherished moments we experience in life. For him, such moments include scenes of spectactular natural beauty in Utah, Idaho, and Washington; the struggle, serenity, and selflessness of living as a missionary in Uruguay; the sustaining and empowering love and friendship with his wife, Jen; and the joy of watching their three young children begin their lives. These moments are what define and lift our lives above the din of daily bustle, and really what we take with us and what is most important. Through the piano, synthesizers, and orchestral instruments, Ben hopes that his music can provide an uplifting, tranquil haven amidst the rigors of life. As always, Ben's music is for Jen.
