This full length CD captures Urban Ambience's unique quality to turn anything into music. Starting with a steam locomotive soundbyte that gives the impression of the little train that could, the listener is swept up into a world of musical enchantment where things are not always what they seem. Beginning with the "Shinkansen Shuffle," you're exposed to mesmerizing, hypnotic amounts of marimba, samba, and lots of sonic soundscapes. The more the music progresses, the more you become one with it. "Tuvan to Go" opens with what seems to be outback music from every bad Australian movie ever made, but as it trots along, it envelopes you like a fog. Bob McCloskey provides some outstanding sax playing as he mixes some slow blues with some quippy jazz sets. "Peking Duck" is not what you order in a Chinese take-out, but a flock of ducks heading south. As you listen with your eyes closed, you begin to picture them in V-formation moving across the gray sky. As you travel further, you experience some deep, spiritual meditation music that's sure to relieve any of the work day stress. Not sparing the percussion and with more instruments then the Boston Pops Orchestra, it's hard to imagine that only 3 guys (with a little help from 2 others), could make such a diverse album. By the end of it all, you'll be reciting an "Electric Evening Prayer" before you head off to dreamland for another otherworldly experience. Very trippy post-modern stuff.
