One mind, one heart, one purpose is what unites two women with different personalities in a project that bonds their lives. Through their songs, their goal is to bring a message of peace and salvation to the world. Legado, which means legacy, was formed to proclaim exactly that... the legacy that our Lord has left us and entrusted us with. Victoria Miro and Roxanne Soto, known as Vicky and Roxie, were born in Miami, where they still reside. They are descendents of Cuban exile parents that came to this country in search of freedom. Today, after accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they know what true and perfect freedom is. In 1995 they became active members of the praise and worship group of their church, where almost instantly they began to develop ties of love and friendship. Although very different, Vicky and Roxie have several things in common. They were born in the same year, both married and accepted Christ in 1987 and each has two children. They share a passion for the Gospel, their families and music. Their first Spanish album "Guiada Por La Luz" was released in November of 1999 in Peru. This album reached the Top Ten charts at several radio stations, domestically and internationally. We know that the success of this album was due only to the grace of God who opened doors to the Christian market but more importantly to the secular world. Legado was the first Christian group to appear on the highly syndicated show, "Despierta America." They have returned to this show on numerous occasions due to the response from the viewing audience. They have also appeared on prime time shows in the Spanish market, such as: "Edicion Especial," "El Gordo y La Flaca" and "Musica en America." One of their most treasured interviews was done by "Enfoque a la Familia" (Focus on the Family) in Guatemala during the Coicom show in October. This program aired on April 23rd and 24th of this year with the continuation airing on Father's Day. Legado's second Spanish album " Corazon Mentiroso" was released in November of 2000. This album includes twelve praise and worship songs that vary in rhythms from tropical to contemporary pop. Like the first, this album has impacted many lives and has already been featured on some of the secular TV shows mentioned. Their third album " Open Doors" is a crossover to the English market. This album includes eleven contemporary pop/ ballads. Each song is the reflection of the trials and God's victories in their personal lives. This production " Open Doors" is a dedication to those who have impacted many lives by risking their own. Legado's desire is to open the eyes of the world to the persecuted church and to convey through praise that there is only one path that will lead us to interior healing and true love... Jesus Christ. Vicky and Claudio's Testimony Vicky, the quiet one of the group, was a latchkey child of the seventies. Her parents divorced when Vicky was very young, forcing her mother to work long hours to support her family. For as long as she can remember, Vicky, always dreamed of getting married and having a family. When she finally met Claudio, the man of her dreams, he was studying to be a doctor. She waited for him while he studied abroad and they were married upon his return. After nine months of marriage, Claudio told her that he didn't love her anymore. He missed his freedom and he did not want to be tied down. Facing the fears and the realization of a failed marriage, Vicky gave him the divorce that he so wanted. Several months later, Claudio was approached by an old friend who told him that he would like to introduce him to "someone" who could change his feelings and restore his family. Claudio was reluctant but accompanied his friend to a church. That night he gave his life to the Lord. Claudio immediately asked for Vicky's forgiveness and requested that she accompany him to church. Needless to say, Vicky was still very hurt and did not want anything to do with Claudio. After a while, his persistence paid off and she agreed to go. That night she accepted Christ as her Savior, and shortly there after, they were remarried. For three years they served faithfully in their church. Then, Claudio started to become very successful in his profession. He became wealthy very quickly and the money started to blind him. He purchased several sports cars, a yacht and real estate properties. Soon, he stopped attending church because Sunday was his only day off and he had to go fishing. This soon became a vicious cycle. For nine years, Vicky lived a life of verbal, mental and physical abuse. After all these years and two small children, she visited her pastor and told him that she wanted to get divorced. At this point, she hated Claudio and did not want him anywhere near her or the children. The pastor asked her a simple question...did she think there was anything impossible for God? Vicky knew the answer to this question, but she told him that she did not love Claudio anymore. The pastor told her that God did not care about her love for Claudio. He told her to give her burdens to the Lord in obedience and that God would bless her and her family. Vicky returned home and did just as her pastor had said. Shortly after, Claudio started to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. Going through this crisis, he looked toward the Lord for help and realized how wrong he had been and the damage he had caused. The road to recovery was just beginning. It has been several years and today; Claudio is not only the spiritual column of his home, but of this ministry as well. Roxie and Pepe's Testimony Growing up, Roxie's dream was very different. She said she would never get married. To her, true love was only seen in movies. She lived with her mother and younger siblings in a very unstable home. They never lived in a location more than six months, moving sometimes cross country and even out of the United States. Her mother married several times and sometimes left home for long periods at a time, leaving the children alone and without money. Being the eldest, Roxie was left to care for and raise her brothers and sisters. There were many days and nights when their last resort was to go to neighbors or city streets and beg for food. By the age of fifteen, Roxie had lost her menstruation, she also suffered from Anorexia, that later turned into Bulimia. One of the family relocations took them to Puerto Rico. When the family was again getting ready to leave the island, Roxie told them that she was staying. By now, her brothers and sisters were old enough to take care of themselves. So, at the age of 18, she left her family to "make" a life for herself. During all these years she often questioned God about her purpose in this world. She wanted to be famous. She wanted recognition. Roxie enrolled in a school of the arts to learn acting and dancing. One day, her friend noted a posting on the bulletin board that said..."Auditioning Gringas." It was posted by Pepe Luis Soto, a well-known producer, with a recording studio in Old San Juan. He was looking for American girls that could sing to star in a new project. Roxie had never sung. Her friend insisted that she go to this audition and so they taped a demo in her bathroom. While waiting for the audition, Roxie wanted to leave. The other girls that were auditioning were singing a capella and she says they sounded like Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. Roxie waited to be last and finally it was her turn. She walked in the room where there were five men at a long marble table. At the end of the table was Pepe, the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. They asked her to sing a capella, she refused and threw them the tape. They turned it on, heard three lines and turned it off. They said " thank you for coming and waiting until the end, we will call you." Roxie knew the demo was horrible, and that they would never call her. She also knew that this was her big chance to become famous. She told them " put that tape back on and I'm going to show you what no other one of those girl did!" She got up and danced on the table, she did kart wheels and used all the moves she had learned at the school. There were columns that she wrapped herself around. When she finished all of them where in shock! And to top it off, she looked Pepe in the eyes and firmly said " And I am going to make you a millionaire." Needless to say, this convinced them that Roxie was their girl. Almost immediately, Pepe and Roxie fell in love. They recorded numerous songs, hitting the pop charts on many occasions, but they were never successful enough to meet their aspirations. After three years, Roxie was again living in Miami and Pepe called to ask her to join him in Puerto Rico. He had just gotten a divorce and wanted to marry her. She told him that she would live with him, but she would never marry him. She had seen it go wrong too many times. Besides, it was the eighties and that was acceptable. Pepe's divorce had left him in bankruptcy. When Roxie arrived in Puerto Rico, she could not understand why he was so happy, even though he did not have any material things left. After two weeks, Pepe asked Roxie to go with him to church. She was shocked! He told her the music was great. Like anyone who is in love, she agreed to accompany him that night. What she didn't know is that Pepe had given his life to the Lord weeks earlier. As Roxie was sitting in the congregation that night, she felt the pastor was speaking directly and only to her. He was doing an invitation for people who had not had a mom or dad around, who had a terrible childhood, to those who had an emptiness inside that nothing could fill, to those that had done so many wrong things in life that believed were not worthy of forgiveness. Roxie accepted that Pastor's invitation, and on that night, accepted the Lord. Pepe and Roxie were married about three months later. The Lord worked in Roxie healing her eating disorders. For ten years after their marriage, Roxie was unable to conceive. This was due to all the physical complications during her teenage years. When she met Vicky, Roxie constantly handled Vicky's children and Vicky suggested that she should consider having children of her own, at which time Roxie explained that it was biologically impossible. Vicky knew that there was nothing impossible for God and she took Roxie to a prayer and healing retreat. During this retreat there was specific prayer for Roxie's womb and her future child. It was incredible news to learn that only twenty days after this retreat, Roxie was expecting. Now she has a beautiful three year old named Emmanuel that loves and praises God every chance he gets.
