A combination of ambient, IDM, glitch, and classical; Kristin Anderson (a.k.a. 4/56), draws heavily from her background as a composer to create an electronic sound with depth and emotion. In fact, Kristin spent much of her early years training as a classical violinist, later progressing to the world of academic composition. The natural evolution from orchestral writing to both musique-concrete and real-time interactive computer music was not far behind; and the echoes of such influences as Stockhausen, John Cage, and George Crumb; continue to make an appearance in her music today. Wanting incorporates pieces from all these seemingly disparate worlds: synthetic manipulation, contrapuntal structure, glitch-inspired vocals, and even electro-acoustic elements; to deliver a varied, complex sound without sacrificing the ultimate goal: the creation of an expressive aural journey. In addition to composition, Kristin earns a living as an audio editor, voiceover artist, and music reviewer. She is also currently the Creative Director of a Los Angeles-based organization called Not Quite Normal, which focuses on the promotion of all forms of the experimental arts.
