Most of these artists are from Guinea,West Africa. They are all considered "Masters" on their various instruments, including the singers and dancers. In their teenage years they were seriously schooled in the music and traditions of their ethnic groups. They drummed, danced, sang, and studied for many hours a day. The Guinean Government created different "Ballets" to represent its culture. First they toured all of Africa, then went on to share the Music and songs of their homeland to Europeans and many other peoples. When they returned home, some of the artists chose to stay in their Ballets, while others traveled to Europe and the United States to become teachers. In many cities - all over the world, people now take drum and dance classes from these talented artists. Thus, LANYI was created by these teachers- in modern times with modern arrangements. Check it out!! Very cool rhythms, amazing voices, captivating Kora (stringed instrument),and intense Balaphone (xylaphone like) melodies. Have a good journey!
