"A truly devastating release from southern California based Sean Fry, from the new fledgling Vex Records label. The opening track 'Manawa' is simply exhilarating and highly original, this is sheer intensity at it's finest. Utilizing a driving beat with arpeggiated harps dancing over a menacing bassline, the track constantly builds tension and releases it with a fury, leaving you elated instead of exhausted. The next track 'Kala' is another album standout, displaying a deceptively simple delayed melody and an intricate rhythm section. It almost sounds like a cross between James Brown and Boards of Canada. Stunning. You don't often hear a harp jamming with a slap bass guitar, which seems to be a recurring theme throughout the album. The overall sound of the album is incredibly clean, Sean's attention to detail is definitely apparent throughout the albums 10 tracks, as the tracks seem to reveal hidden parts depending on your mood. This is what dance music might sound like in a lucid dream, satisfying the need to capture your imagination and shake your ass at the same time, not an easy task. 'Poison Sushi' is another favorite, it has a very cool asian plucked string sound syncopated with colorful drumming, revealing hidden emotions with each new listen. You can hear subtle Aphex Twin influences as well as bands like Primus and The Chemical Brothers, however the sound he creates is such a nice blend that it's completely original and perhaps even it's own genre. Truly mind blowing work. Extremely well produced and highly recommended, this will give you endless hours of listening. Wicked."
