Pholde is a sound project created by Alan Bloor that began in 2000. It involves producing haunting, dark drones from metal of different tensile strengths. Alan Bloor was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario and began experimenting with sound in the mid '80's, working with poetry performers in Detroit, Mich., and contributing to dance-performance soundtracks throughout the '80's and '90's. In 1988, Alan moved to Montreal and started a sound project called Knurl. Since then, he has performed at festivals with Jim O'Rourke, Thurston Moore and Alan Licht, and has toured the eastern United States and Japan.
