From the sound of it, Hjortur is influenced by the Chicago house scene, British bands like the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, Enya, Vangelis, Moby, The Beatles and Kraftwerk to name a few. This all culminates in a far more relaxed sound than that description would suggest; shown off perfectly in his cover of I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow (which you will most likely know from the 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou?' soundtrack), which in this incarnation has gone from rowdy country to a fine slice of ambient electronica. His music is a mixture of almost everything! Nothing is to big or to small. And everything is allowed when making music. This is experimentel, indie, electronica, pop, rock, alternative country, ambient, mellow, new age and world music.
