KATHY WATSON ACCOMPLISHMENTS: The 42nd. Annual Grammy Entry List: 1) General Field , Category 4, Best New Artist Listing #507, March, 2000 2) General Field , Category 2, Album Of the Year, Listing #851 March, 2000 3) Field 1 - Pop , Category 11, Best Pop Album Listing #190 March, 2000 A NOTE FROM KATHY: Thanks for coming by. With your support, I have been able to record two albums, continue writing music and performing. I am in my mid-twenties and have been associated with music since age six. I love singing good music anytime, anywhere for anyone. I am an impulsive composer. When the spirit hits, I go to my guitar and am obsessed with anxiety and excitement. The anxiety comes from my fear of forgetting and my excitement from discovery. I love to play. I workout daily so you can stand to look at me. I really get a huge sense of accomplishment from climbing big Colorado mountains. I love my dog, Tiki and my family. One of my dreams was to become a classical musician and composer. To realize this dream, I went to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music. After a short break, I returned to my education and earned a Master of Music Degree. I accomplished these academic goals to prove to myself that I could do it and I really needed to learn the disciplines of composition, theory and history. I get my inspirations from other performers such as Whitney Houston, Cece Winans, Paul Simon, Sara Vaugn, Elly Amling and Cecilia Bartoli. These entertainers have provided insight into a variety of styles and delivery techniques which allows me to personalize my work. I am honored that you wanted to know more about me. Thanks again for stopping by. ALBUM NOTES: Produced by Robert A. And that we do. With inspirational lyrics and the power of an incredible voice, Kathy Watson uplifts you to a level that leaves you warm inside. This isn't your typical gospel track. Producer Rob Case adds a countryesque sound to the music that gives you a different but appealing vibe. Written by: Stephanie Morgan, The Urban Network, Issue # 631, August 11, 2000 Kathy Watson is a young talent that has a bright future. Still attending college, she's currently working toward a graduate degree in vocal performance; however, unlike some artists who let formal training make their art stiff and uninspired, Watson still has a lot of guts and soul. As for her debut album, she had this to say: "This is something that I have worked very hard for. All Song Titles but one, are original ! My subjects are drawn from people in my life and their experiences about love, loss and overcoming struggle." Totally Adult Magazine, ISSUE #29, October 8, 1999 Colorado pop songstress Kathy Watson is backed by a full band, including back-up singers, on this seven-song CD which contains mild, MOR pop music. Watson's voice is pleasant, adequate and restrained and shines when she harmonizes. In other words, there are no dramatic, powerhouse moments captured here. Nevertheless, Watson is a young artist who has an obvious feel for her chosen genre and, with more development, could find a way to stand out from the pack.
