Kate was raised on a ranch in Florida by North Carolina parents who earned their living growing and selling vegetables. As a child on that farm there were only two things on her mind-horses and singing. Her youth was spent competing in rodeos and horse shows, playing the guitar and sax, writing and singing. These were the days of Elvis and the Beatles, and her biggest influence, Anne Murray. It was the music of the 60's and 70's that would play a role in her life.

The rich and mellow sounds of this artist were honed performing in clubs, on cruise ships, in colleges and churches in the U.S. and Canada, recording independently and singing demos for others. Kate's growth as an artist has woven a path through pop, gospel and country songs and this journey has given her a unique style all her own as a songwriter, artist and producer.

To Kate, being a communicator is more important than the spotlight that some artists crave and there is a lot of depth in what she writes and how she delivers it. She intermingled music jobs with other forms of communication in the advertising and newspaper fields as a writer and photographer. Not long after she moved to Nashville a music executive recommended her to Edgar Struble, a music director, composer and arranger that has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business, including 15 years as music director for Kenny Rogers. Struble has assembled some of the hottest bands on TV for music programs. With his expertise, he selected some of the best studio players in Nashville to record Kate's earlier project. Not long after completion of the album, her mother became terminally ill and she was faced with putting her career on hold and taking care of an ailing parent. That difficult choice ended up taking her away from the music path for awhile. Her father
had also passed away and though the losses were devastating, it was a deeply reflective period in her life. Emotionally she was so far from music at that
time she sold her guitar and had no plans to return to the music career she put aside. But fate would later intervene.

During this time away, with a borrowed guitar she would write the songs that would eventually emerge into a new record project‹ one that she would produce and sing with new emotion uncovered from the many changes experienced. Kate would discover her real father's identity and would come to terms with questions long unanswered. The song "Ordinary Girl" would evolve from this new insight. Though a few of the songs recorded with Struble earlier are included, it would be the new material that would draw this singer/songwriter back to the studio.

Just before she departed from the music scene to tend to family needs, Kate began co-writing with various Nashville songwriters, one of which would eventually lead her back to music. After fulfilling long-term care needs of her Mother and recovering from the physical toll it took on her own health,Kate decided to pursue other interests and began writing a novel while working various jobs and avoiding her true passion, her love for music. Doc Cunningham, her main songwriting partner coaxed her into writing again. In time they decided to bring the songs to life and spent a year in and out of the studio doing just that. With a lot of soulful searching, this reclusive artist knew she wanted to share her music again.

The time away from music had given Kate perspective and a new edge that is reflected in her songs and her voice. The music industry had gone through some changes of its own and radio could not be more ready for her soulful vocals. Kate was encouraged by many to fulfill her destiny as an artist and to release the new record. This project evolved after the calming of a storm in the life of an artist and plays like a movie soundtrack. It is filled with original music and songs that you can listen to again and again.

Once in a while a voice comes along that is set apart and so unique that it has its own signature. That time has come once again.
