Acoolstiq is a one man band, born and raised in Hawaii. As a child he grew up listening to his father playing jazz piano, and his earliest memories of his mother’s side of the family playing live Puerto Rican music at family gatherings. At the age of 13 he pulled out his sister’s nylon string guitar that was collecting dust in a closet, taught himself how to play by ear, then basic chords and tablature from books. He did not start singing till the age of 25, and at the same time started to write and compose his own music.
