The music of Soulwise, a/k/a John and Karen Jacobsen, takes the listener back to a time when strong melodies and tight vocal harmonies prevailed in pop music. Some have described Soulwise's music on "This One's For Life" as a 21st Century cross between ABBA and the Carpenters. Radio programmers, too, have enthused about the Soulwise sound. Soulwise's songs also have much depth lyrically, something else that has been lacking in pop music of late. John Jacobsen, the songwriter of the duo, says "I aim to write songs that make the listener think and reflect on their relationships, not just get a good feeling. This is why our ultimate goal is to have our music featured on Delilah's show. She plays songs with depth, and we do music that peers into the soul." Indeed, Soulwise is closer to that goal after a six week trip to both adult contemporary and contemporary Christian radio stations this summer where they met program and music directors and even did some spontaneous concerts on the road. "It was an exhilarating experience," says Karen, who also remembers fondly "taking our 7 and 5 year old daughters into the radio stations with us. And camping in the south summer heat!" Soulwise's "This One's For Life" CD features bright, up tempo songs -- "All Your Faithful Ways" sounds like something the Saturday Night Live orchestra would play -- and moving love songs, such as "Still in Love." Their track "Everyday Hero" is unique, in that it is a tribute to the sacrifices moms and dads make for their children. "Parents are the unsung heroes of our time," John says, "and it was time somebody recognized them." Check out the artist's website: http://www.soulwisemusic.com Track List: 1.
